LAURA EMMERSON, M.A., RP (Qualifying)
Laura Emmerson is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a member of the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists (OACCPP).
She has had the privilege of working with clients of all ages and different cultural backgrounds with a broad range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, anger, insomnia, abuse, relationship issues and clients with borderline personality disorder. Her experience also includes work with inmates in a correctional facility as well as with female survivors of domestic violence.
Laura’s mission is to support, equip and empower her clients as they navigate the barriers along their journey toward growth and greater wholeness. She strongly believes that therapy is best conducted as a collaborative process, whereby a therapeutic plan is created using evidence-based approaches in conjunction with clients' goals, cultural/spiritual values, individual personality and unique life experiences. Laura supports her clients by helping them to draw from their strengths and develop self-compassion as they engage in the therapeutic process.
Laura earned her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree from Yorkville University. Laura received her Bachelor of Science degree and teaching licensure from Liberty University. She is a licensed teacher with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) and she worked as an educator in the elementary and high school systems before entering the counselling field.
