ADINA NISTOR, M.A., RP (Qualifying)
REGISTERED PSYCHOTHERAPIST
Adina Nistor is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). She has a Masters of Arts in Counselling from Yorkville University and a Masters of Science in Health Psychology from the University of Bath in the UK.
Adina approaches counselling through understanding both the science and the human experience of the Stress Response, which she believes, is the main obstacle to experiencing life fully. What happens in the mind and body when feeling threatened challenges our ability to form the relationships that we want and deserve. Her approach is based on this belief that it is our ability to create and maintain healthy relationships at work, with our friends, families, partners and children that have the most impact to our daily functioning and well being. And that healthy relationships with others begins with healthy relationships with ourselves.
Adina believes that through the empowerment of the self, clients can access personal resources and solutions to obstacles and confusions, which play a role in keeping them feeling "stuck", and repeating similar patterns throughout their lives. She works with clients to overcome the obstacles created by their Stress Response and has expertise in areas which include (but are not limited to):
Addictions
Anxiety
Depression
Personality Disorders
Grief
Trauma
Having been the witness of a traumatic event
Living and/ or working in a generally stressful environment
Struggling with shame, guilt, or low self-esteem/confidence
Improving sports performance
Repeated struggles with unhealthy relationships
Deepening and improving current relationships
Social anxiety
Adina is additionally experienced in working with adults (and corresponding partners/family members) who struggle with addiction/dependency issues, trauma, anxiety and personality disorders across a wide age range and diverse cultures.
Adina also provides psychological services at NKS Therapy under the supervision of Dr. Bita Sharifzadeh, Registered Psychologist.
